Radiant Orchid

In breaking news Pantone's Color of the Year for 2014 is:

Radiant Orchid!

Here are three design ideas on how to approach using this color…

1. Small Accents
This is the most subtle way to work this in to your decor. By using a fairly neutral palette, you can add more bold areas of accent for emphasis. Also, by using this approach, the accent areas can be easily switched out for changes in seasons or design trends.

2. Wall Color
By using radiant orchid as your wall color, your walls become your area of accent. This paired with a neutral color scheme in the rest of the decor can let the walls make a huge impact and really set the tone for the space.

2. Layers of Color
This one can be a little tricky, but if done successfully, can make a dramatic impact on a space. The key to layering color is to make sure that you have a range in values. This means choosing colors in the same family that range from very light to very dark. This allows the room to have depth and variation.
